Summary

Software engineer focused on backend systems for banks. I work primarily in Oracle PL/SQL, with React and Next.js on the front end, and I own features from database design through deployment and production support. Most of my work is in payments and clearing — I’ve shipped an automated clearing-house settlement engine and an ISO 20022 (SWIFT MX) message generator, both live in production.

Experience

  1. Software Developer · Union Systems Global

    Nov 2023 — Present

    Backend and database engineer on a six-person team building payment-processing and SWIFT messaging systems for banks.

    • Built the Oracle PL/SQL engine for an automated clearing house system — validating, processing, posting and settling direct credits and cheques from Sierra Leone’s central-bank clearing files.
    • Took the system live at its first bank, replacing a manual settlement process; built a parameter-driven manual fallback so the bank could adopt it in controlled stages.
    • Wrote the PL/SQL that generates ISO 20022 SWIFT MX messages (pacs.008 and pacs.009) directly from core-banking tables — now live at two banks migrating off MT103 and MT202.
    • Delivered 30+ Oracle Forms and PL/SQL procedures across banking projects, automating manual back-office processes.
    • Built and maintained the React/Next.js front ends for these systems and ran production support for live client deployments.

Projects

  1. QMS — Queue Management System

    NestJS, Prisma, PostgreSQL, Docker

    A queue-management system that runs a ticketing flow and announces counter numbers by voice. Built solo; deployed and running on a self-hosted server.

    • Built the backend in NestJS and Prisma (PostgreSQL) as a pnpm monorepo; containerised with Docker and deployed via Dokploy.
    • Integrated the Piper text-to-speech engine to generate the spoken counter announcements.
